“From bricks to bits. Engineering at the service of Health” is the theme of the conference to be organized by the Portuguese Order of Engineers, next October 18, with the support of Hospital da Luz. The intention is that the event becomes a reference in the sharing of knowledge between engineers and health professionals. The involvement and participation of Engineering in quality healthcare providing is essential today, not only in terms of digitalization and development of digital technologies and solutions, but also as guarantor of sanitary conditions contributing for social and environmental welfare. In line with previous decisions, where it has associated annual exercises to themes of interest for society and Engineering, the Order of Engineers dedicates the year 2022 to the topic “Engineering and Health”, designating Isabel Vaz, engineer and Luz Saúde CEO, as commissioner for the initiatives to be carried out in this respect. During the conference, the following themes will be approached: Green and Smart: building sustainable hospital facilities Information and communication systems future-proof infrastructures Robotics and automation in medicine and in patient experience Engineering and data science: new frontiers in prevention, diagnosis and disease treatment.
