Hospital da Luz ensured the clinical support to the 16 th running event Corrida da Mulher – EDP Lisboa , a Mulher e a Vida, which took place last Sunday, June 5. The event counted with the participation of about 10 thousand athletes, among them 150 Luz Saúde collaborators, covering the 5 km-track, between Santos and Belém Tower (via rua da Cintura do Porto de Lisboa, and Av. Brasília): For the first time, the event was open to men, who joined the women in this solidarity cause, which is the main purpose of the event: to raise funds to acquire breast cancer screening equipment. The total of the registration fees was handed over to the Portuguese League Against Cancer – South Regional Division. According to Maratona Clube de Portugal, the running event organizer, in the previous 15 editions a total of 900 thousand euros was raised. The Hospital da Luz clinical assistance was ensured by 30 health professionals, including physicians, nurses, physiotherapists and emergency personnel, supported by three ambulances and three bikes. The athletes were assisted in the medical centre set up near the finish-line, along the track and in the starting-line, for the initial screening. It is worth recalling that Hospital da Luz signed a partnership agreement with Maratona Clube de Portugal, applicable for the 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions of the Lisbon running events and marathons.
