Hospital da Luz ensured, for the second consecutive year, the clinical support to the running event Corrida da Mulher – EDP Lisboa, a Mulher e a Vida , which 17 th edition took place on May 14. The 5 km running and walking event started in Santos and had its finishing line near the emblematic Belém Tower. This year, around 14 thousand athletes participated, among them 150 Luz Saúde collaborators. It was also the second year that the event was open to men. The main goal of Maratona Clube de Portugal, the event organizer, was once again to raise funds to support the screening of breast cancer. The total of the registration fees (about 40 thousand euros) was handed over to the Portuguese League Against Cancer. The clinical assistance of Hospital da Luz, official medical partner in the Lisbon marathons organized by the Maratona Clube de Portugal , was ensured by 26 health professionals – among physicians, nurses, physiotherapists and emergency personnel – supported by three ambulances and four bikes. The athletes were assisted in the medical centre set up near the finish-line, along the track and in the starting-line, for the initial screening.
