The COVID 19 pandemic has changed our lives and the way hospitals are organized. At Hospital da Luz Arrábida we have modified a set of procedures in order to guarantee the continuity of health care with responsibility and safety. We managed to overcome the first phase of the pandemic in an exemplary manner, keeping all essential sectors in operation, with no cases of COVID-19 imported into the institution and no cases of cross-transmission between employees. As long as there is no vaccine and / or effective treatments for COVID-19, we focus all efforts on preventing contamination. And for that, we implemented: Symptom survey and body temperature measurement at the hospital entrance; Separated circuits for patients at risk of infection; Measures of distance and control of space allocation; Reinforced the cleaning plans; Optimized circulation and air treatment circuits; SARS Cov2 screening test before surgery and on admission; Rules for the use of personal protective equipment for clients and employees. These measures, taken together, significantly reduce the likelihood of contagion for both clients and healthcare professionals. At Hospital da Luz Arrábida, we maintain the quality and excellence of care guaranteeing the safety of patients and all health professionals.
