Death at one’s own request is the topic of the next encounter promoted by the Centre for the Study of Bioethics (NEBio) of the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine (SPMI), on November 26, in collaboration with the Ethics Committees of Hospital da Luz Arrábida and the School of Health Santa Maria (ESSSM). The session “A day with NEBio” will take place at ESSSM, but may also be followed online. The encounter happens in a time where the Portuguese Parliament is preparing a new bill on medical assistance in dying. “ Death at one’s own request is a new topic for society, confronting personal sensitivities and strong convictions of people and organizations. For that reason, it is important to discuss it ”, highlights António Carneiro , the clinical director of Hospital da Luz Arrábida and coordinator of NEBio. Besides physicians from Hospital da Luz and ESSSM, the session will count with the participation of two Spanish specialists, since this practice is already in application in Spain for over a year. Date and schedule: 26 November 2022, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Place: Escola Superior de Saúde de Santa Maria, and online Free enrolment in the online session
