Their day to day happens at Hospital da Luz Lisboa Dentistry Service, but they have decided to start 2025 using coats, chairs and some quite different tools, on behalf of a cause: to help Casa do Artista, where about 70 elderly artists reside. Thus, last Saturday, January 11, a group of 20 elements of that service, among doctors, dental assistants and administrative staff, remodelled two rooms that are part of the consultation and physical rehabilitation space of this historical institution. The idea of this solidarity action arose when one element of Hospital da Luz team, who knows one member of Casa do Artista managing board, mentioned its need of support to make work and improvements in parts of the building. “We liked the idea and thought it would be a different way to celebrate the Three Kings Day: nothing could be more meaningful in this season than sharing something with those who gave us so much in terms of art”, explains Gabriela Videira , director of the Dentistry Service of Hospital da Luz Lisbon. On request of Hospital da Luz, JP Construction Services participated also in solidarity in this initiative: two days earlier, they were on site to perform the more specialized work and prepare the spaces to be intervened. Then, throughout the afternoon of Saturday, it was a real commotion: the Dentistry team painted walls and baseboards, cleaned cabinets, tables and chairs, replaced some old pieces of furniture for more modern donated ones, and purchased a few accessories, such as light fixtures, rugs and pillows, to make the spaces more comfortable. Joana Figueiredo, service director of APOIARTE - Casa do Artista , accompanied the whole process and thanked the team personally “for all the support and work developed”. Hospital da Luz thanks, on its turn, the willingness shown to receive this small contribution, that we hope will improve the day to day of the residents in the institution.
