A study in Clipóvoa Private Hospital as part of student Ana Luis Sierra Couto's integrated Master's project at the School of Health Sciences, University of Minho, has been examining new post-anaesthetic recovery room assessment methods in the context of gastroenterological procedures. The study examined the possibility of using quick and easy application tests (FTT, DST) to monitor the recovery of cognitive and reflex capacities after anaesthesia. After studying data from 130 volunteers, the researchers concluded that these tests are easy to apply and sufficiently discriminating to objectively monitor psychomotor recovery after administration of propofol. The study, entitled 'Evaluation of psychomotor recovery after sedation with propofol' was supervised by Dr. Alexandrina Malta (Luz Saúde) and Professor José Miguel Pêgo (School of Health Sciences, Luz Saúde) and was awarded a final mark of 19 out of 20.
