The General and Family Medicine team (GMF) of Hospital da Luz Clínica da Amadora provided, along 2021, around 10 thousand consultations, following up the whole family of our patients. It was a year, where the pandemic conditioned the life of the general population, but the GFM kept surveillance over the health of those who resorted to us. Learn that GFM: Is one of the specialties that ensures primary healthcare: it approaches and manages most health problems, ensuring the long term follow-up of every individual, in the different age groups. Is particularly important for monitoring health (often resorting to the so-called “routine exams”) and for the most adequate referring, when the complaints are unspecific (such as a general discomfort, dizziness, fatigue, anxiety, palpitations, pain, nausea, abdominal pain, intestinal disorder, mental/emotional complaints. Establishes a regular record of the patients’ different pathologies and usual medication. Assesses the need of an urgent consultation, programmed consultation on the short term in other specialties, or post-medical discharge exams of some urgency. Also contributes for patients to feel reassured, when they are being followed up in several specialties and when it is necessary to make small adjustments in the medication. Articulates easily with the other specialties, so as to ensure consultations and / or exams in due time.
