Filomena Ribeiro, the director of the Service of Ophthalmology from Hospital da Luz Lisboa, was elected in the beginning of the month f or the direction of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) , the most representative European organization of ophthalmologists and leader in innovation in this segment of surgery. The ophthalmologist, specialized in refractive and cataract surgery, was elected with 200 votes in favour. In this election, the five candidates with more votes from ESCRS members were selected, among a total of 17 candidates, which will now integrate the ESCRS board for the period of 2020-2024 . ESCRS was established in 1991, presently counting with over 5.000 associates.
