Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim opens its doors once again to the bikers’ community, next February 26, Sunday, for a training and learning session on First-Aid specifically for bikers. Throughout the morning, the participants will have the opportunity to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge on how to help a victim, until the arrival of a specialized medical team. Providing first-aid is fundamental until the arrival of a specialized medical team: every minute counts and reduces the surviving chances of the victim. Therefore, it is essential to be trained in first-aid, being able to save lives and prevent irreversible damages. This training session will be free of charge, but with limited registrations (see conditions below), and counts with the support of the North NCX’s bikers. It will be provided by nurses of this hospital’s Emergency Service, who will cover the following topics: First approach of the victim; Left lateral recovery position; Airway clearance manoeuvres; Biker’s emergency card; Helmet removal techniques. The participants will train with BLS simulators (Basic Life Support). Date and time: 26 February 2023, 9h30 a.m. to 12h30 a.m. Place: Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim auditorium Registration (mandatory and limited to 50): via e-mail eventos.povoa@hospitaldaluz.pt Note: A maximum of 2 registrations is accepted per e-mail, being necessary to indicate the full name of the persons signing up.
