Hospital da Luz Setúbal will organize, next November 27 , free screenings open to the general population to detect the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). This initiative is integrated in the scope of the World COPD Day (on November 19). This disease is one of the main causes of life quality decline and mortality at world level. During screening, ensured by a team of the hospital’s Pulmonology Service, surveys and respiratory function tests will be made. Remember: COPD is a common disease, that can be prevented and treated. Smoking (the main risk factor), pollution and exposure to gases, dust or polluting chemical products in the context of professional activity, are the main causes of the disease. In case of symptoms, such as cough with expectoration and dyspnea (fatigue), patients over 40 years old, smokers and individuals exposed to fumes or dust affecting the respiratory tract, should consult a pulmonologist to detect COPD Participate in the screening!
