Hospital da Luz Setúbal will offer, on March 6, the European Day of Speech and Language Therapy , free screening destined to children with ages between 3 and 8 . It is common to underestimate or mistake as “laziness”, delays in the development of communicational competences in children , especially when they are younger. But that is not always the case and there are warning signs that parents and educators should be alert to, in order to identify when to seek professional advice. To detect possible articulatory and/or writing difficulties that might interfere in the development of language or in the acquisition of reading and writing in children, is the goal of these screenings .
