Hospital da Luz Arrábida was distinguished by the European Society of Unilateral Biportal Endoscopy (ESUBE) as an International Center of Excellence in Endoscopic Spine Surgery. This is the first center in Portugal to obtain such recognition, thus highlighting the work developed by Porto Spine Unit, the spine team of Hospital da Luz Arrábida composed by orthopedists Filipe Lima Santos , Eduardo Moreira Pinto , Maia Gonçalves and Ricardo Frada (in the photo above), highly differentiated professionals in the surgical approach and treatment of spine pathologies. The distinction now awarded by this European scientific society is a result of clinical experience, continuous training, and adoption of innovative surgical techniques, reflecting the technical and scientific competence of this medical team, as well as its active engagement in innovation and the continuous improvement of clinical results. The Porto Spine Unit has affirmed itself by the application of minimally invasive techniques, namely Unilateral Biportal Endoscopy (UBE), a surgical approach allowing to treat several pathologies of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine with higher precision, less aggression of the tissues and faster recovery for patients. The acknowledgement as ESUBE excellence center reinforces not only Hospital da Luz Arrábida positioning as national and international reference in spine surgery, but also the decisive role of the medical team in the clinical differentiation and excellence in healthcare provided.
