Hospital da Luz Arrábida supported the 5 th edition of Poço Negro – Solidarity Trail, which took place on July 3, in the area of Mau river, in Penafiel, near the Douro river. To showcase the region and its unique characteristics are the goals of this solidarity initiative, where the amount raised with the enrolment reverts to the Association for the Development of River Mau District – a local IPSS that provides home support to the elderly and people in need, also comprising a day-care centre and leisure activity centre. Destined to enthusiasts of running and walking in nature, the Poço Negro Trail was held for the first time in 2016. In the 2018 edition, it counted with around a thousand athletes and, this year, there were about 800 – among which a few Hospital da Luz Arrábida collaborators, also giving a hand in the organization of the initiative. Sports activity is fundamental for health. The support to Poço Negro Trail falls within Hospital da Luz investment in the promotion of physical exercise near the community, as a way to adopt healthier life styles and prevent disease.
