The organization of services at Hospital da Luz Coimbra and the practices adopted to continue providing quality healthcare with maximum safety, in times of covid-19 pandemic , are the motto of the story published on November 17 by “Diário de Coimbra”. Similarly to all units of Grupo Luz Saúde, Hospital da Luz Coimbra, in the weeks before the advent of covid-19 pandemic in Portugal, reinforced its plan of infection control and prevention, as well as its team of health professionals and respective training. The hospital “never closed doors”, always maintaining its clinical activity and striving to give the most adequate answer to all circumstances we have been facing these last months, “attempting to ensure maximum safety and, obviously, the clinical and assistencial quality that characterizes it”, as stressed by Hugo Raimundo, head nurse of the unit. Hospital da Luz Coimbra clients find in the two main entrances an area of sanitary screening, with criteria of evaluation that are also replicated for each professional entering the unit (the use of protection mask, hands disinfection, temperature measuring and brief questionnaire on symptoms), explains Andrea Mesa, infectologist and coordinator of the Program of Infection Control and Prevention and Antimicrobial Resistance, from Hospital da Luz Coimbra. Moreover, as reminded by Hugo Raimundo, “there is more life beyond covid-19 and people cannot neglect their health condition”. Therefore, our clients should maintain their consultations, exams and treatments, continuing to count on us, without fear. We are a safe hospital. Story on Diário de Coimbra
