Hospital da Luz Coimbra sponsored “Training Without Borders”, an initiative organized last September 26 by the Cerebral Palsy Association of Coimbra (APCC). The event gathered trainees, trainers and other technicians from several entities and institutions partnering with APCC, an institution that promotes professional training in the context of qualification of people with impairment and disability. The event, “Games without frontiers” style, has gathered over a hundred people at Quinta da Conraria, among team members, supporters, technicians, and officers, and counted with the participation of teams from ARCIL, ADFP, CERCIPOM, ULS of Coimbra – Hospital Sobral Cid and APPACDM Coimbra. They all participated in several games challenging physical ability and shrewdness, the team spirit and joy being constant. With this initiative, the APCC intended to encourage the sharing of experiences and ideas between entities and institutions that promote professional training in the context of qualification of people with impairment and disability. The organization was ensured by the Professional Training team, with the engagement of elements from other services. Professional training developed in the APCC has differentiated characteristics aiming to provide a more inclusive personalized development, adapted to the specific needs of trainees. It is destined to people with impairment over 18 years in situation of unemployment, who wish to (re)enter the labour market on a sustained basis, as well as people with acquired or aggravated disability looking for new qualification or reinforcement of skills. Hospital da Luz Coimbra could not miss an initiative such as “Training Without Borders”. Whenever the community so requires, we are there.
