Hospital da Luz delivered today 5 thousand euros to each of the social institutions: Associação Salvador, Operação Nariz Vermelho and Ajuda de Berço. The donation results from the initiative carried out via Hospital da Luz Instagram in partnership with SL Benfica, on February 4 this year, during the match against Gil Vicente, in the 20 th round of Betclic League. The spectators in the game and followers on social media were invited to put a “like” (each like equalling 1 euro) or a comment (each comment equalling 2 euros) in the post of each association on Hospital da Luz Instagram, until reaching the maximum amount of 5 thousand euros. The goal was reached even before the end of the match. The three checks, totalling 15 thousand euros, were delivered by Carlos Móia (executive president of Benfica Foundation), Pedro Líbano Monteiro (executive manager of Hospital da Luz Lisboa) and Pedro Patrício (executive director of Hospital da Luz Lisboa) to the representatives of the institutions: Sandra Anastácio (president) and Rita Gautier (Communication) of Associação Ajuda de Berço, Mariana Lopes da Costa (executive director) and João Pedro Silva (Partnerships) of Associação Salvador, and Anabela Possidónio (general director) and Mafalda Ataíde (Partnerships) of Operação Nariz Vermelho. Carlos Móia praised the implementation of the initiative in partnership with Hospital da Luz, an initiative long desired by Benfica Foundation, a fact also mentioned by Pedro Patrício, who highlighted the point of pride in the role that the hospital has been developing in the area of social responsibility. Pedro Líbano Monteiro emphasized, on its turn, the enthusiasm shown by people joining the initiative, allowing the goal to be reached quite quickly. For Anabela Possidónio, of Operação Nariz Vermelho, the amount of the donation will enable the association to bring joy to many hospitalized children. Sandra Anastácio, of Associação Ajuda de Berço, which houses and takes care of 35 young abandoned children, stated that the donation is a great contribution to help pay expenses. Mariana Lopes da Costa, of Associação Salvador, declared that these 5 thousand euros will allow the association to continue supporting adapted sports, represented by two athletes – Sandra Manuel and Luís Rodrigues – who were also present in the event. In fact, both took the opportunity to stress the importance of such contributions to improve their sports practise and full integration in society.
