Hospital da Luz Clínica da Covilhã, in just one year of operation, provided over 14 thousand consultations and about 6 thousand exams, having brought to the Beira Interior region physicians and specialists from all over the country, besides equipment with the latest technology, such as the 3-tesla magnetic resonance. “It was an intense year, with plenty of challenges, and we can say that expectations were exceeded. The Clinic has been following a consistent path, with a differentiated offer of healthcare at the level of medical specialties as at the level of exams performed. We can say that we have improved considerably access to healthcare in the region, being already a reference”, stated Pedro Beja Afonso, the executive administrator of the Hospital da Luz network units in the Centre region. With a privileged location in the largest avenue in Covilhã, Hospital da Luz Clínica da Covilhã opened on the 30 th March 2022 and is the most recent unit in Hospital da Luz network. It offers, in the same place, a team of professionals of excellence, the latest technology and convenient operation hours. “Thanks to a quality project we have been implementing and due to the fact that the Clinic is integrated in the largest private healthcare network in Portugal, Luz Saúde, we were able to bring to Covilhã a group of physicians from all over the country. Presently, we count with the collaboration of doctors from Coimbra, Aveiro, Porto, Viseu and Lisboa, besides Guarda, Castelo Branco and Covilhã”, explains Pedro Beja Afonso. “Around 100 health professionals collaborate with the Clinic, meaning that we have a good capacity of attraction. Presently, we cover basically all medical valences. The specialities of physiatry, pedopsychiatry and pain medicine will now also be available from April on”, further states the administrator. Free transport Covilhã-Coimbra and agreements with SNS The Clinic operates in integration with Hospital da Luz Coimbra, ensuring whenever necessary the continuity of medical-surgical care and an efficient response to the most diverse clinical situations. To facilitate access to this integrated network of healthcare, a transportation service between Covilhã and Coimbra is made available for free, when patients need more specific exams that are not performed at the Clinic. The Clinic: Has an agreement with the National Health Service (SNS) concerning clinical analyses. It is reinforcing partnerships with SNS hospitals in the area of imaging medical exams, soon to be announced. Has agreements with the major health insurances, complementary health care systems and other funding entities.
