Cube Desportivo Nacional and Hospital da Luz have celebrated on July 14 a cooperation partnership valid until 2029 . The agreement provides for Hospital da Luz Funchal to ensure all medical services to the club, making available to its athletes a multidisciplinary team, cutting-edge technology, and high standards of clinical quality. The protocol signed further provides for special conditions extended to elements of the corporate bodies and club members. Competing in the Portuguese major league of football, CD Nacional: Was founded in 1910 December 8. It is often referred to as Nacional da Madeira or simply Nacional; Was born on the initiative of a number of youths who decided to form a group (the Nacional Sport Grupo) where to play football, a modality that was a novelty in the beginning of the 20 th century and almost exclusive of the British community. It was also decided that the uniform would be black and white, hence the team being commonly known as “alvi-negra”; It took up its current name, Clube Desportivo Nacional, in 1922. Beyond football, it expanded its activity over the following decades to other modalities, namely swimming, volleyball, beach soccer, cycling, combat sports, motor sports, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, padel, surf and tennis. It presently counts with around 10,000 registered members; In the season 1975/76, after winning the Madeira championship, it joined the National Football Championship (in the Third Division). In 1988/89, got for the first time promoted to the First Division, and since 2004 it has participated for many times in European competitions (UEFA Cup / Europe League). “This collaboration with Hospital da Luz reinforces the investment of Clube Desportivo Nacional in prevention, specialized medical follow-up, recovery, and sports performance optimization, ensuring its athletes an integrated and individualized follow-up”, has referred the club in an official statement. “More than an institutional partnership, this is a union between two references in their respective areas of activity. Together, Nacional and Hospital da Luz Funchal now open a new chapter with the ambition to further raise the quality of healthcare provided to the’ alvi-negro’ universe”, concludes the note. The signing and presentation of the protocol between the two institutions happened at Hospital da Luz Clínica da Carreira, in a small ceremony with the presence of the senior football team players José Gomes, Matheus Dias and Kevyn Freitas. “This is an important step we take towards excellence in treatment and in concern for the health of our athletes, staff and members”, stated on the occasion the president of Nacional, Rui Alves. “It is an honour to celebrate a protocol of partnership with CD Nacional and have our brand on the stadium of this great club”, pointed out on its turn Carlota Cavaco, general director of Hospital da Luz Funchal and the two other units in Madeira (Carreira and Caniço clinics). “The entire Luz Saúde group has been engaged in efforts to support sports clubs in regions where its hospitals and clinics operate.
