Hospital da Luz Lisboa was reaccredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) for the triennium 2021-2024, after an auditing carried out between 11 and 15 October, which was coordinated by three foreign auditors members of that international organization. JCI is a world leader in quality and safety accreditation in healthcare providing, imposing rigorous and demanding criteria to the health providers it audits. Being accredited by JCI means belonging to a restrict group of hospitals, at world level, that offer their patients the highest quality and safety standards. The auditing now performed at HLL englobed all areas and all professionals of Hospital da Luz Lisboa, having evaluated 1.231 international standards of quality and safety. From procedures with medication to surgical interventions, through the concrete checking of the professionals’ competencies and the implementation of the most adequate treatments to patients, the JCI auditors walked through the whole hospital during a week, verifying the compliance with the innumerable parameters considered as essential for conferring accreditation to hospital health institutions. At the end of this week of auditing, Hospital da Luz Lisboa learned that it had obtained a result considered “extremely positive” , having satisfied all the JCI indicators. The team of auditors did not report any non-conformity concerning the international institution predefined parameters, only referring 20 partial commentaries. It was a week of intense activity at Hospital da Luz Lisboa, along which all its professionals showed, once again, the importance of teamwork and spirit of mutual support. Exactly as it was stressed by the JCI auditors, who highlighted the fact that it all occurred with no disturbance to the normal activity of the Hospital and to its clients. Hospital da Luz Lisboa thus renews its commitment to a medicine of quality and excellence , assuming once again its focus on patients and on responding at the highest standards to their needs.
