Hospital da Luz Oeiras was the official medical service for the Carcavelos Beach Rugby 2025 tournament , an initiative of the Galicia Rugby School and the Misericórdia de Cascais, which took place on Carcavelos beach on July 5th. With over 200 players, divided into 19 teams – 15 men's and 4 women's – the most famous rugby tournament in the Cascais area drew a large crowd to the beach and, despite the heat, was enjoyed with enthusiasm, excitement, and without any major incidents. The field hospital set up on the premises by Hospital da Luz Oeiras contributed to this, with a team of six professionals permanently stationed. A doctor, two nurses, a physiotherapist, and two emergency medical technicians supported the players whenever needed, recording 32 incidents and only one evacuation. "On behalf of the Galicia Rugby School and the Misericórdia de Cascais, we thank the Hospital da Luz Oeiras for all their support during the Carcavelos Beach Rugby 2025 tournament," said a member of the organization after the event. "Their coaching staff constantly ensured the necessary care for the injured players. They were attentive and available to 'enter the field' whenever necessary... and there were two fields under a hot sun," said the same official, concluding: "The Hospital da Luz, with its field hospital, was undoubtedly a pillar in our tournament, qualifying us and ensuring the well-being of the registered players." This was the 5th edition of Carcavelos Beach Rugby 2025, where the Falcons were crowned champions in the men's under-19 category, while the Piranhas took first place in the senior women's category. In the senior men's category, the podium went to the Jacarés de S. João da Talha. The tournament featured seven referees assigned by the Portuguese Rugby Federation and the support of 50 volunteers, including scorekeepers, linesmen, field setup staff, tent staff, and service support staff, among others. Hospital da Luz Oeiras congratulates the entire organization and the participants.
