Hospital da Luz Clínica da Figueira da Foz established a protocol with the Basketball Section of Ginásio Clube Figueirense , thus assuming the role of official medical provider for athletes and teams. The initiative is part of the strategy of Hospital da Luz Network towards promoting sport in the community and offering support in the access to health services. The protocol was signed in October by Pedro Beja Afonso, director of Hospital da Luz units in the central region, and Ana Lúcia Rolo, president of Ginásio Clube Figueirense. The ceremony counted with the presence of José Tomé, president of the general assembly, and other board members. Ginásio Clube Figueirense: Has 130 years of existence (completed on January 1) and is a reference in the city and the country’s central region; Develops its activity in 12 sport modalities, already distinguished with several awards and titles; Has created the Basketball section in 1930. The team holds nine national champion titles, three vice-champion titles and one victory in the Portuguese Cup. The support to sports institutions and events is a valuable tool for Hospital da Luz to fulfil one of its missions: promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing disease, which necessarily includes the practice of physical exercise.
