Every day is good for physical exercise, but it has special meaning at the beginning of a new year and in an emblematic event such as the Corrida dos Reis, in Póvoa de Varzim. On January the 7 th , marking the end of the Christmas festivities, around 1,500 people participated in the 5 th edition of this competition, which once again counted, as is also tradition, with the medical assistance of Hospital da Luz. Along the 8 km track, the participants had the opportunity to run through the main neighbourhoods and tourist sites of the city. Nuno Lopes and Dulce Félix were the winners in the men’s and women’s race, respectively. All along the track, the athletes counted with the medical support of Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim. Also near the start and the finishing line, there was a medical, nursing and physiotherapeutic team in place, ready to support and provide all necessary care. Who was also present this time in the race was Lu: the mascot of Hospital da Luz pediatric service was an animation and did not leave anyone indifferent to his presence. Hospital da Luz thanks the Póvoa de Varzim municipality and the organization – Bikeservice – for the invitation to take part once again in this initiative, that repeated the success of previous editions and represents an important way to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles near the population. The clinical team from Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim that was present in the competition included Pedro Coutinho (doctor), Diana Brandão (nurse), Guilherme Fontes and Vivian Afonso (physiotherapists).
