Along four days (between 9 and 12 June), all trails in Póvoa de Varzim led to the City Park , with thousands of people participating in the several initiatives organized by the municipality, in another edition of “Os Dias no Parque” (The Days at the Park), taking place once again after a forced stop due to the pandemic. Considered the largest cultural event in the district, it repeated the success of the previous editions, once again with the support of Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim. In the medical centre set up in the Park, Hospital da Luz had a nursing team available to provide first aid to visitors, whenever necessary, assisted by the Volunteer Firefighters of Póvoa de Varzim. Additionally, the team carried out around 600 free screenings to visitors, where different health indicators were measured (glycaemia, blood pressure, pulse and body mass index). The Hospital da Luz team comprised nurses Ricardo Gomes (coordinator), Alexandrina Moreira, Ana Catarina Monteiro, Bárbara Gonçalves, Catarina Oliveira, Mónica Martins, Raquel Morim, Sónia Cancela, and Susana Ribeiro, besides the administrative staff: Catarina Cristelo, Cátia Molho and Daniela Rodrigues. “Os Dias no Parque” is the largest annual initiative organized by Póvoa de Varzim City Hall and aims to promote social cohesion in the municipality, through the proximity between the population and local sportive, cultural, social solidarity and health associations. Between 9 and 12 June, over 70 local associations came to the City Park, holding there 30 musical concerts and DJ performances, 20 art manifestations, and many games, sports activities and animation for all ages. Adding to the enthusiasm in this edition, was Lu, the Hospital da Luz mascot, delighting the young ones (and many of the adults too!), playing around, taking pictures, and delivering prizes in its wheel of fortune, namely, free health screenings and lots of balloons, hats and lunch boxes. Hospital da Luz thanks the City Council of Póvoa de Varzim for another opportunity to participate in an event of great success, providing health care to the population. Whenever the community needs, we will be there!
