Jaime Faria, one of the young promises of Portuguese tennis, will be sponsored by Hospital da Luz in the next three years. The agreement was celebrated last Thursday, April 10, and the athlete is already undertaking exams and recovery therapies in the Sports Medicine Centre of Hospital da Luz Lisboa, so as to ensure a perfect physical condition in time to participate in Millennium Estoril Open happening later this month. “Hospital da Luz has been strongly investing across its network in supporting athletes, from non-professional to top level athletes. A major social responsibility pillar of our Group is the promotion of health through sport, which should be practiced from early on”, explained Isabel Vaz, the Luz Saúde CEO, in the signing ceremony of the sponsorship agreement, which took place at Hospital da Luz Lisboa. “What I expect of Jaime Faria”, she added, “is that he continues to be an example for youths in Portugal and that we can help him practice tennis at the highest level.” Jaime Faria, aged 21: Is presently number two in the national ranking and 99 th in ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) ranking. Will be ambassador of Hospital da Luz brand in the modality, for the next three years. Has had a remarkable beginning of season, qualifying for the second round of Australia Open, in January, where he became the first Portuguese tennis player to win a set against Novak Djokovic. He has reached the quarter finals in Rio de Janeiro ATP 500 and Santiago de Chile ATP 250, entering the first 100 of ATP ranking. In 2024, he had been the first Portuguese player to win four tournaments of the ATP circuit in four consecutive weeks. The Hospital da Luz support, “a hospital of reference”, will be “fundamental” in his career, he stated during the ceremony, referring that he is “in recovery from an injury” suffered in the start of the year which forced him to make a stop in competitions. “With your help, I will be able to give my very best”, he promised, advancing that Millennium Estoril Open 2025, that has bet on him as a wild card, “will be a particularly special moment”.
