Hospital da Luz Arrábida supported the 1 st edition of Kids Trail, an exclusive event for children from 3 to 12 years old, which took place on May 18, in Rio Mau valley. Similarly to the Poço Negro Trail, usually organized every year in June in the same region and destined to adults enthusiasts of running and walking, the amount raised with registrations reverted to the Association for the Development of Mau River Borough, an IPSS in Penafiel that provides domiciliary support to elderly and children. Many of Hospital da Luz Arrábida collaborators helped organizing this Kids Trail. Besides nursing support, the hospital distributed gifts and prepared a series of activities for the children. Lu, the Hospital da Luz mascot, was tireless on cheering up. The Kids Trail comprised several events with distances adapted to each age level: a 500 m (for 3-5 aged children), a 1 km-long trail (6-7 aged children), a 1.5 km-long trail (8-9 aged children), and a 2 km-trail (10-12 aged children). The Kids Trail was long called for by those following the senior event, the Poço Negro Trail. Beyond its solidarity aspect, it is also an important means to promote physical activity, for a healthier life and preventing disease – therefore, Hospital da Luz could not fail to be present. As claimed by the organizers, “it doesn’t matter how, just go for it!”
