Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim was the official medical provider in this year’s edition of “Os Dias no Parque” (Days at the park), the major cultural and social event promoted by Póvoa de Varzim municipality, which took place between 6 and 10 June, at Parque da Cidade. Along the five days of the event – gathering thousands of people in concerts, sports activities, cultural exhibitions, and moments of conviviality – Hospital da Luz was active on site with an advanced medical station, equipped with advanced life support capacity and prepared to respond effectively to situations of medical emergency. Specialized support was permanently ensured by nine health professionals , throughout the whole event, among doctors, nurses, and medical emergency technicians. Altogether, the Hospital da Luz team included 20 elements. This team ensured healthcare and first aid on an ongoing basis, right from the first hours in the morning until late night, in close collaboration with the Volunteer firefighters, Civil Protection, PSP, GNR, Municipal Police and other entities involved in the security operation. Besides the medical station, there were other health professionals moving around the park and providing immediate care on site, whenever needed. The advanced medical station was also a visit point for young Scouts, who were curious to get a closer view of Hospital da Luz work. They were received with enthusiasm by our team and mascot Lu, the visit allowing us to show them, in a pedagogical manner, how emergency care is provided in outdoor spaces such as Parque da Cidade. Lu’s presence was in fact noticed all over the park, spreading joy and cheering up young and old with its good spirit and distributing gifts. For Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim it was an honour to contribute to the success of another edition of “Os Dias no Parque”. An opportunity to reinforce our commitment towards the community, actively participating in an event celebrating conviviality, culture, sports, and local solidarity. We thank Póvoa de Varzim Municipality for the invitation and the trust placed on our clinical team.
