Being born in the maternity ward at Hospital da Luz Lisboa (HLL) is being part of a group that breaks records . In 2023, we made history again: 3,921 babies were born in our maternity hospital in Lisbon , around 550 more than in 2022. This is the number that makes us proud. A number that confirms the HLL maternity hospital as an example of quality, safety, and trust. Congratulations to the whole team! With each passing year, Luz Saúde reinforces its contribution to the birth rate in Portugal. In 2023 alone, the six maternity wards of the Hospital da Luz network delivered 4,754 babies. And in Lisbon, records were broken again, which made, for the second time in a row, the HLL maternity ward the largest in the country. Throughout the year, there were days in which 22 births took place, with many consecutive weeks in which the average number of births was 13, 14 and 15 births per day. The maternity ward at Hospital da Luz Vila Real was once again, in 2023, the second largest in Luz Saúde, followed by HL Arrábida, Guimarães, Póvoa de Varzim and Aveiro. In 2022, the maternity hospital at Hospital da Luz Lisboa had been in the spotlight, with a total of 3,347 births, more than any other maternity hospital in the country. In total, in 2022, the maternity hospitals of the Luz Saúde group delivered 4,230 babies.
