In the Urgent Service of Hospital da Luz Arrábida , we separated the circuits of patients with and without respiratory symptoms, to ensure the provision of urgent and emergent care in complete safety : the general circuit and the respiratory circuit, distint areas totally separate. Upon admission, patients with respiratory symptoms or potentially those with COVID 19 are screened for the r espiratory circuit . In this area, the entire space is exclusive and totally separate from the rest of the hospital, and health professionals are protected with superior personal protective equipment. In general urgency, all other situations are observed, with the safety and competence with which we have always worked. In the whole area of urgency, we optimized aspects related to air treatment and environmental hygiene . Respiratory treatment areas have negative pressure to prevent the spread of particles and the frequency of cleaning spaces is even higher than that performed in other sectors of the hospital, with special emphasis on the surfaces of touch and material for clinical use. We developed a telephone screening for nurses through the “Luz 24” helpline , which allows personalized referencing of urgent and emerging situations for urgent care and the less urgent ones for a scheduled appointment.
