Hospital da Luz Lisboa Maternity is prepared to provide all the necessary care to the follow-up and needs of future mothers and new-borns, in all safety. To prevent COVID-19, we have adopted rigorous procedures, with autonomous circuits of access to the maternity and of circulation, allowing the presence of an accompanying person (naturally with restricted mobility) during labor, while mother and new-born are hospitalized. In the case of pregnant women with positive COVID-19 test or with a suspicious clinical status, we have also prepared an independent circuit of assistance. This way, it is possible for mothers, accompanying persons and health professionals in general, to experience each birth in complete safety. At Hospital da Luz Lisboa, every pregnant woman that resorts to us can count with a wide range of services : A multidisciplinary clinical team , with obstetricians, neonatologists and anaesthesiologists of recognized competence and experience; A nursing staff specialized in healthcare to pregnant women and new-borns; Vaccination (including the vaccines previewed in the National Vaccination Programme); A Labor and Delivery Unit equipped with the most advanced technological resources; 24-hour services 365 days a year, such as LUZ 24 phone screening, 24-hour Emergency Service for Obstetrics and Intensive Care; Preparation Course for Birth and Post-birth Recovery , provided by nurses, physiotherapists and doctors; A High-Risk Obstetric Centre , with a multidisciplinary team (prepared to follow up pregnant women with diabetics, hypertension, cardiac disease, autoimmune disease or thrombophilia, for instance); A safety system for new-borns (identification bracelet and radio transmission system that allows to track the location and movements of the baby at all times, and blocks access to unauthorized zones); “Heel prick test” (genetic screening to the new-born, between the 3 rd and 6 th day of life, previewed in the National Programme of Neonatal Screening); “Nascer Cidadão” , a space where the official registration of the child’s birth can be made for free.
