Porto Book Fair, the major literary event in the city, which took place between the 26 th August and the 10 th September, counted for the first time with the support of Hospital da Luz. Teams of nurses and administrative staff from the Hospital da Luz Arrábida units (Vila Nova de Gaia), and Porto and Santa Maria da Feira clinics performed health screenings and provided clinical assistance in the days of greatest affluence, the weekends. Overall, 1,644 screenings of cardiovascular risk were performed (including blood glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure tests, and BMI calculation). During the weekends, the teams were also on stand-by for first-aid providing, in collaboration with the fire brigades present on site. The Porto Book Fair was founded in 1930. Since 2014, it has been organized by the city hall, happening every year in Palácio de Cristal gardens. It always pays tribute to a personality in the area – this year, being the writer Manuel António Pina –, developing a cultural and entertaining programme catering for all ages.
