The Human Factors Engineering team of the Luz Saúde group participated in the 6 th Healthcare Ergonomics and Patient Safety (HEPS) international conference, which took place in Lisbon, from July 3 to 5. The HEPS 2019 international conference was organized by the Ergonomics Laboratory (ErgoLab) of the Faculty of Human Kinetics of the Universidade de Lisboa (University of Lisbon) and by the Associação Portuguesa de Ergonomia – Apergo (Portuguese Association of Ergonomics). The opening ceremony was attended by the CEO of Luz Saúde, who praised the work developed by the Human Factors Engineering team in the group. Isabel Vaz also stressed out the importance of the contribution of these professionals in the improvement of the system that supports the provision of healthcare. Raquel Santos, from the Organization and Processes Department of Luz Saúde, was a keynote speaker at this conference. In her oral presentation – entitled “Forward to basics: Reengineering a human-centred healthcare” -, she summarized the innovative work developed by the team she leads, of which Luísa Ferreira, Carolina Lameiras and Valdemar Costa are also part. It should be noted that last May, during the 25º Congresso Nacional de Medicina Interna (25 th Internal Medicine National Congress), held in Vilamoura, a communication was also presented on the project developed by this team at the Urgent Care Service of Hospital Beatriz Ângelo.
