Since its start, the interventional cardiology team of this hospital has already performed over a thousand procedures, diagnoses, and therapies, being presently a reference in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases in the region. Interventional cardiology at Hospital da Luz Coimbra: Has excelled in a minimally invasive approach of diverse pathologies, including coronary disease and structural and valvular problems of the heart. Performs procedures such as coronary angioplasty, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), mitral insufficiency and tricuspid correction, and structural cardiac defects closure, among others. Is coordinated by interventional cardiologist Marco Costa and integrates other interventional cardiologists, specialists in cardiac imaging, cardiac surgeons, anaesthesiologists, nurses, cardio-pneumology technicians, and cardiovascular perfusionists.
