Isabel Vaz, CEO of Luz Saúde, is manager of the year for Executiva magazine. In a ceremony held in the main hall of ISEG to present the Executive of the Year Awards, Isabel Vaz was chosen by the jury of this initiative as the manager of 2024. The CEO of Luz Saúde was considered a 'role model' of female leadership in the area of management, capable of inspiring new generations. For the Executive of the Year Award jury, Isabel Vaz is an example of ‘the ability to achieve and value talent’ and represents ‘the power of business women’. The “Executives of the Year” Award is awarded, annually, to executives of Portuguese nationality or who carry out their professional activity in Portugal, who during the year have distinguished themselves for their economic relevance, innovation or performance, elected by a jury made up of members of the Editorial board of Executiva magazine and the president of ISEG, economist João Duque. Isabel Vaz has led the Luz Saúde group for 25 years. She has a degree in Chemical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and a Master of Business and Administration (MBA) from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. After trying a career as a researcher, in 1992, she was invited to join McKinsey, a high-management strategic consultancy company, where she was a senior consultant for seven years, participating in projects essentially in the banking and insurance areas. Since 1999, he has been President of the Executive Committee of the Luz Saúde Group, leading more than 15 thousand employees in 30 health units, including Hospital da Luz, in Lisbon. Between 2012 and 2022, the Group it leads also managed, under a Public-Private Partnership, a public hospital - Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, in Loures. He was a member of the Faculty Council of the Nova School of Business and Economics at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. And he is currently a member of the International Advisory Board of The Lisbon MBA, from the same Faculty. In 2015, she received the “Excellens Oeconomics” award from Jornal de Negócios, as best manager of the year in Portugal. And, two years later, in 2017, she received the Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo 2017 Award, granted by the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) to former students who distinguished themselves in their professional and social career. In 2019, she was considered one of the 10 most powerful Portuguese women by Forbes magazine. And in 2020, for the 5th consecutive time, she was considered one of the most influential women in Portugal by Revista Executiva. Now she is the 2024 Manager of the Year, a recognition of which the entire Luz Saúde Group is proud. Congratulations, Isabel Vaz!
