Jorge Paulino is the new president of the College of General Surgery Specialty of the Portuguese Medical Association . The director of the General Surgery Service of Hospital da Luz Lisboa headed the list that won the elections for the College's management during the next three years, which took place between the 4th and 7th of September. The specialty colleges are the advisory bodies of the Medical Association, for defining the practice of Medicine at national level. Paulino, who is the first president of the College of General Surgery whose activity is carried out exclusively in the private sector, has been part of the General Surgery team at Hospital da Luz since January 2021 . Specialist in kidney, liver and pancreatic surgery and transplantation, the surgeon has 62 years old and held positions throughout his professional career at the Civil Hospitals of Lisbon, the Curry Cabral Hospital, the Hospital da Cruz Vermelha, CUF Descobertas and the Champalimaud Clinical Center. Doctorate in Medicine (2015) with Aggregation in Medicine (2020) from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Nova Medical School (Universidade Nova de Lisboa), he is also a Guest Assistant Professor at this Faculty and a Portuguese delegate to UEMS (European Union of Medical Specialists), Division of Transplant Surgery.
