Hospital da Luz Setúbal will celebrate the World Diabetes Day, on November 14, offering free screenings to the general population and sharing information on the disease. Causes complications in different organs, that may reduce the quality and years of life. Is, for instance, the main cause of blindness, renal failure and non-traumatic amputation. If not monitored and controlled, it can be fatal; in Portugal, 10 to 12 individuals die every day due to diabetes. In western countries, its main cause is the sedentary lifestyle of the population, the lack of physical exercise and an excessively caloric diet. According to the Portuguese Diabetic Protective Association (APDP), on average, around 60 thousand new cases of diabetes are registered every year, in Portugal, where there is over a million diabetic people. To diagnose diabetes in time is fundamental. Take the screening! Date and time: 14 November 2022, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Place: Hospital da Luz Setúbal, ground 0.
