Luz Saúde is participating in the national effort to support Ukrainian refugees who chose Portugal as host country. The support from Luz Saúde and its Hospital da Luz network units is provided by intermediation of the Jesuit Service for Refugees (SJR – Serviço Jesuíta aos Refugiados), which we thank for the willingness to participate in this operation. SJR has been working in this field in Portugal since 1992, now being involved in particular in this mission regarding Ukraine refugees. Starting on April 4, the Luz Saúde support will be done in three main areas: Healthcare providing , namely access to specialized consultations and complementary means of diagnosis in any unit of Hospital da Luz Network for 500 Ukrainian refugees, until the end of 2022 (this time limit may be reviewed according to the evolution of circumstances). It’s up to SJR to proceed to the identification of refugees in need of healthcare and communicate every need to Luz Saúde. Training (through Hospital da Luz Learning Health) and employment in Luz Saúde units for those refugees who intend to stay in Portugal temporarily or permanently. Offer of medical supplies , to be sent to the war zones or refugees hosting zones on the Ukraine borders, the SJR acting once again as intermediary in the identification of needs and ensuring the distribution of these supplies. For Luz Saúde, this is an historical moment we cannot remain indifferent to. Thus, we take this commitment of support to all Ukrainian refugees in Portugal, with all our ability and the dedication of always. Luz Saúde Group and its collaborators will do everything in their power to help mitigate the suffering of these people, in such a difficult time in their lives.
