Hospital da Luz offers 19 vacancies for interns applying now to start their speciality in the beginning of 2026. Three of such vacancies are in specialities having recently acquired training competence – namely Neurosurgery, Haematology, and Sports Medicine at Hospital da Luz Lisboa - and two in Hospital da Luz Setúbal, which was authorized this year by the National Medical Association to train specialists in Internal Medicine. The young doctors filling those vacancies will join in 2026 the 48 physicians who have entered in previous years and are taking specific training at Hospital da Luz Lisboa (44) and Hospital da Luz Arrábida (4). The total of 19 vacancies integrates the national plan of access to specialities, distributed as follows: Anaesthesiology (2 vacancies), General Surgery (1), Gastroenterology (1), Gynaecology-Obstetrics (1), Haematology (1), Sports Medicine (1), Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (1), Internal Medicine (3), Intensive Medicine (2), Neurosurgery (1), Neurology (1), Medical Oncology (1), Paediatrics (1), Pneumology (1), and Radiology (1). The internship in Sports Medicine is developed in collaboration with Hospital da Luz Coimbra. One of the referred vacancies in Internal Medicine is at Hospital da Luz Setúbal. The Internship is a fundamental stage of medical training, highly demanding and challenging, that allows physicians to differentiate in the area of knowledge they chose to practice for the rest of their professional life. We have launched specific training medical internship in 2013 with educational competence in two specialities and have been growing progressively, presently having training competence acknowledged by the National Medical Association in 19 specialities, with a total of 48 interns in training. Our vacancies have always been fully and consistently filled, and we are at the top of choices at national level. To date, the units within Hospital da Luz Network have already trained 32 medical specialists , the majority remaining working in Luz Saúde group.
