The team made up of Emília Gonçalves Rebelo, a medical student at the University of Coimbra, Maria Gonçalves Rebelo and Maria Isabel Caetano, who are studying Biomedical Engineering at the same university, and Eva Bernardino, a Biomedical Engineering student at Nova FCT, won the 5 th edition of the Health Hackathon, organized by Luz Learning Health and the National Association of Medicine and Biomedical Engineering Students (ANEEB), which took place last November 23. The solution they presented was considered the most innovating and allowing to respond efficiently to a real need related with MY LUZ, the online personal area of Hospital da Luz network clients. In an authentic marathon of creativity and innovation, this hackathon was disputed by four teams, comprising university students from different scientific areas. All four teams had exactly 24 hours to present creative solutions for the challenge proposed by the Customer Service Direction and the MY LUZ ecosystem direction: “How to increase the use of MY LUZ health platform?”. The winning team presented a model viewing to simplify the introduction of health data in the respective MY LUZ area, thus promoting the adherence of clients. “Hackathon” (to hack + marathon) is the designation given to a work method originally used by startups, gathering developers, designers and other professionals connected to software development in authentic working marathons viewing to create specific solutions for one or multiple challenges. This is now being applied to other areas as a method of multidisciplinary brainstorming , fostering a spirit of innovation. The Health Hackathon developed by Hospital da Luz Learning Health in partnership with ANEEB views to promote a culture of open innovation and a multidisciplinary ecosystem, involving health professionals and university students in the solution for a real challenge of Luz Saúde. It is targeted to medicine and biomedical engineering students, but also from other health areas such as nursing, pharmaceutical sciences and nutrition. During this 5 th Health Hackathon, the participants had also the opportunity to participate in workshops and mentoring sessions with specialists. Plus, they had the chance to work with Venturely, a special idea development tool created by Digital+Sustainable Innovation Lab.
