Hospital da Luz Lisboa received the new electric BMW, a model that will allow for... lots of play! It's true. We're talking about a mini electric car, which has been parked for days in the pediatric ward at Hospital da Luz and has been used to entertain children who are sick or about to undergo surgery— a way to reduce pressure and forget the fear that can surround the hospital environment, as experts indicate . For 5-year-old Dinis, who was the test driver of this new BMW, the theory was confirmed. It took no more than a few seconds for this young driver to confidently take control of the wheel and show all the adults present how important play can be, even while in the hospital. The surgery he was about to undergo was forgotten for a long time. Dinis also received a promise from everyone that, as soon as he could get out of bed again, the new BMW would be at his disposal for a few more spins in the Pediatrics inpatient unit at Hospital da Luz Lisboa. The electric minicar was donated to HLL by Santogal and delivered by Luis Galvão (second from the left in the photo). On the day of Dinis's "testing," the executive director of Hospital da Luz Lisboa, Pedro Líbano Monteiro (second from the right), the head nurse Anisabel Soares (center), as well as Isabel Gonçalves and Margarida Moreira, respectively the coordinating nurse and the head nurse at the HLL inpatient unit (left and right in the photo) made a point of being present.
