The new Hospital da Luz Clínica in Figueira da Foz, inaugurated on July 15, with a wider range of medical consultations and exams, and reinforcement of the clinical professional team, has involved an investment of 11 million euros. “We readily realized that the city of Figueira da Foz deserved a more robust healthcare offer than what we had in the previous premises, on Ponte Galante, which no longer responded to the requirements of healthcare provision in Hospital da Luz network and was limited in services. Figueira da Foz definitely justifies the investment”, points out Pedro Beja Afonso, managing director of Hospital da Luz Network units in the central region. Hospital da Luz Clínica da Figueira da Foz: Operates since last Tuesday in a modern building on Rua Rancho das Cantarinhas, near José Bento Pessoa Municipal Stadium. Has a wider range of consultations in medical and surgical specialities , such as maxillofacial surgery, paediatric cardiology, nephrology, oncology, and hematology. Carries out clinical analyses covered by SNS agreement. With a complete imaging centre, it can perform over 100 specialty exams, namely CT, mammography, X-ray, echography, and magnetic resonance (the first device in the city). Offers medical consultations on the same day without previous scheduling (Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.). Has a dedicated space for small surgical procedures. The move to the new building and the expansion of the health service offer have been in highlight in the regional and national press. “I believe that this new health unit will be an important milestone in the city, promoting local development”, states Pedro Beja Afonso in an interview to newspaper As Beiras. “We considered our clients’ needs and made every effort to meet them”, stressed the managing director in an interview to Diário de Coimbra, where he further justified the decision of setting a complete imaging centre at Figueira da Foz: “Medical imaging has presently a crucial role in the support to diagnosis. Therefore, we could not envisage a new health unit in the city without such service. With this equipment set up in the new clinic, there is a higher capacity of diagnosis and clinical intervention.
