Hospital da Luz Coimbra has an agreement with the National Health Service (NHS) and the ADSE health subsystem, for exams and treatments in the speciality of Nuclear Medicine. Pursuant to the values defined in that agreement, all SNS users and all ADSE beneficiaries across the country can therefore undergo exams at our Hospital , such as cardiac, bone, kidney, thyroid and other scintigraphy, as well as therapies (for instance, with iodine administration), under the values set out in these conventions. Nuclear Medicine: Is a medical speciality with an imaging element which is fundamental for the diagnosis and monitoring of multiple diseases, in areas such as oncology, cardiology, nephrology, and endocrinology, among others. It also has a therapeutic element, using the administration of radiopharmaceuticals to carry out specific therapies, for example the administration of Iodine 131 to treat thyroid pathology situations. Hospital da Luz Coimbra counts with an experienced and specialized team of Nuclear Medicine, coordinated by physicians Maria João Cunha and Paula Lapa .
