Teams from Hospital da Luz Clínica da Amadora and Hospital da Luz Clínica de Odivelas were present in Nuno Delgado Grand Prize, that took place on July 5, at Academia Estrela, in Lisbon, with the participation of over 250 judokas of the children, initiates and youth categories, besides friends and families. The event, promoted by Nuno Delgado Judo School and co-organized by Estrela parish council, with the support of the municipality and Judo District Association of Lisbon, was a true celebration of judo, its values and its community. One of the high moments was the ceremony awarding the Ethics Gold Standard to Nuno Delgado Judo School, for its commitment to the values of sport and citizenship. This school is a non-profit sports association with an organization model different from usual: it is based on a network of educational / training centres, having protocols with educational institutions and diversified entities (such as public and private schools, municipalities, companies, parents’ associations, leisure activity centres, and gyms). This allows the school to bring judo and complementary activities to children, promoting the diffusion of sports and artistic practice. During the event, Hospital da Luz offered gifts to the participants and athletes that stood on the podium, challenging many attendants to take its Health Checker. Who also could not fail to be present was our mascot Lu, spreading joy to everyone around, even on the tatami! Nuno Delgado, who conquered the first Olympic medal for Portuguese Judo, in the Sydney Games (2000), took the opportunity to congratulate Hospital da Luz for its 25 th anniversary: “Our congratulations to this champion for 25 years helping us to be healthier and practise sport”. Hospital da Luz appreciates the invitation to participate in this memorable day. Sport is a valuable tool to fulfil one of our missions: promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing disease.
