With the support of Hospital da Luz, a group of volunteers from the Pegadas Association completed a Basic Life Support course. This is an essential tool for responding in emergency situations and enables these volunteers to safely lead summer camps for children and youth organized by the association. Pegadas is an autonomous, non-profit, Catholic-oriented summer camp association based in Cascais. It works primarily with groups of children and youth whose families cannot afford to provide them with vacations. The association relies on the collaboration of dozens of young volunteers, for whom taking a course like this was an opportunity to improve their safety and confidence in the activities they carry out with the children. Currently, the association has 80 volunteers, who accompany, in five free camps each summer, more than 200 children linked to institutions based in social neighborhoods on the outskirts of Lisbon. "For us at Pegadas, it's crucial that we meet a real need. It makes no sense not to train our facilitators with the tools they need to respond to a more urgent situation. We have become increasingly committed to the safety of our children, for whom we are responsible and, above all, for whom we strive to care. This was a desire of ours, our facilitators, the associations we work with, and the parents. Therefore, being able to count on the support of Grupo Luz Saúde to carry it out is crucial for our goal. We are delighted to say that our five camps have trained personnel ready to respond, if necessary, in emergencies and emergencies, and are prepared to help our 250 children. We know very well that a split-second reaction can make all the difference!" This Basic Life Support training was led by Femédica's specialist technicians and included both theoretical and practical training. "The session went very well—it was a very positive experience for all participants. We had 20 facilitators present, who demonstrated great interest and engagement throughout the four-hour training," the Association stated. For Hospital da Luz, this was another opportunity to contribute to Pegadas , and we thank them for the fantastic work they do to promote the well-being and development of hundreds of children and young people.
