Hospital da Luz Arrábida and Hospital da Luz Clínica do Porto are present in the Porto Book Fair 2025, started on August 22 and extending until September 7, at Palácio de Cristal gardens. During the weekends (Fridays from 12 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m.), until September 5, the Hospital da Luz teams will provide cardiovascular risk screenings to visitors, besides providing clinical support in the precinct, thus reinforcing its commitment with the community in the promotion of health also in cultural environments. Allying culture and health is the main goal of this initiative that offers the population visiting the Book Fair the opportunity to assess indicators such as blood pressure, cholesterol, and glycaemia. This action further views to raise the awareness of the community to the importance of early detecting cardiovascular diseases, which continue to be a major cause of death in Portugal. Besides screenings, Hospital da Luz ensures proximity clinical support, responding to any need of first aid during the event. The teams are also available to clarify doubts on services of Hospital da Luz Network, namely LUZ 24 , video consultations , differentiated consultations, and the LUZ ON PRIME card. The initiative has been welcomed by visitors who value the incorporation of healthcare in a space dedicated to culture and leisure. “It is a way to take care of people while celebrating books and knowledge”, states one of the coordinators of the initiative. With this participation, Hospital da Luz reasserts its commitment with the community, promoting a preventive and accessible approach to health, in one of the most emblematic events of Porto city. The Porto Book Fair was established in 1930. Since 2014 it is organized by the City Hall and always plays homage to a personality – this year, the composer-singer Sérgio Godinho, also a writer –, developing a cultural and animation program for all ages.
