Hospital da Luz, official medical services provider of Varzim Sport Club and Sport Lisboa e Benfica , sponsored the match between the two clubs last January 10, in the quarter finals of the Portugal Football Cup, in Varzim Stadium. Watching the match – which was won by Benfica by 2-0 (with goals scored by Grimaldo at 4 minutes, and Enzo at 78 minutes) – in the stands, there were 6,438 spectators, among them nearly a hundred collaborators from Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim. Before the start of the match, in the vicinity of the stadium, fans from both clubs were challenged by Lu, the Hospital da Luz mascot, to take pictures and share them on social media. All those who accepted the challenge received a scarf of the respective club (Varzim or Benfica) and Hospital da Luz, with the line “Saúde de Campeão” (The Health of a Champion). The Varzim fans also received a bat. Lu and Tarrote, the Varzim mascot, just as the players on the field, were tireless, entertaining the fans watching in the stands. This was the first time the two clubs which have Hospital da Luz as official medical service provider, faced off in Póvoa de Varzim. “We take great pride in these sport partnerships. We strive to be present and promote healthy behaviour, to give a better health to everyone. In that sense, regardless of the sports field, every result is positive: we all win!”, states Sérgio Viana, the administrator of Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim. The Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim team supporting the event was integrated by Andreia Amaral, Marco Silva, Cátia Molho, Sónia Martins and Catarina Cristelo.
