Specialist in Internal Medicine and director of Urgent Care for adults at Hospital da Luz Lisboa (HLL) since 2016, Luis Duarte Costa has been elected to preside over the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine, for a three-year term. The inauguration of the new president of SPMI will take place on May 26th, during the 30th National Congress of Internal Medicine, the largest scientific event in the specialty that will once again take place in Vilamoura, Algarve. Luis Duarte Costa, who has been linked to SPMI for some years in regional management positions, explained to ‘Just News’ what are the priorities for its mandate: “Regaining the attractiveness of Internal Medicine, so that everyone sees themselves as a core specialty at hospital level”; and “bring SPMI closer to all interns and Internal Medicine specialists, regardless of whether they are members or not, so that a joint effort can be developed to create the appropriate conditions for carrying out their activity”.
