Hospital da Luz Setúbal and the Senior University of Montijo are organizing, next November 25, an information session on prostate cancer, the most frequent type of cancer in men. In this session, open to the general population, Pedro Soares and João Rato , two Hospital da Luz physicians , will explain why prevention is essential, what to do to prevent the disease, and what are the causes, risk factors and means of treatment available. Detecting prostate cancer in an early stage allows to treat the disease with a cure rate over 95%. The prostate is a gland unique in males located around the urethra (the channel allowing urine to flow from the bladder to the exterior of the body), responsible for the production of part of the spermatic fluid. Prostate cancer affects mostly the peripheral area of the gland and is generally “silent” (without symptoms). This awareness action for the prevention of prostatic cancer will count with the presence of the president of the Prostate Cancer Portuguese Patient Association (APDP) , Joaquim Cruz, and a guest of the institution who will share his experience. Date and schedule: 25 November 2022, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Place: Senior University of Montijo Mandatory registration: (indicating name and phone number) through e-mail marketing.setubal@hospitaldaluz.pt
