Miguel Gonçalves Ferreira, otorhinolaryngologist from Hospital da Luz Arrábida, integrated the first group of “non-Plastic Surgeons” that were invited to speak at the 24th congress of the International Society of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). The meeting, that took place in Miami, between October 31 and November 4, was the world major event in the area of aesthetic surgery, gathering around 3.000 congress people. Created in 1970 to promote excellence in the field of aesthetic surgery worldwide, ISAPS is the largest international organization of plastic surgery, that has its congress every two years. For statutory reasons, the event is reserved to specialists and internists in Plastic Surgery, but for the first time in its history, ISAPS invited “non-plastic surgeons” considered to develop an outstanding activity in the area, to integrate the panel of speakers and share their experiences. Part of this small group of international speakers were otorhinolaryngologists differentiated in the area of rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgery – among them Miguel Gonçalves Ferreira, considering his clinical practice and research. Miguel Gonçalves Ferreira practices otorhinolaryngology at Hospital da Luz Arrábida, since 2006.
