The Cardiovascular Risk and Thrombosis Center of Hospital da Luz Torres de Lisboa will offer, on September 29 , the World Heart Day, cardiovascular risk screenings, open to the general population . These screenings are free of costs, but require prior appointment because there is a limited number of registrations. Cardiovascular diseases, in particular acute myocardial infarction and cerebral vascular accident (stroke), are the main cause of death in Portugal, being essential to prevent and diagnose them early-on. The Cardiovascular Risk and Thrombosis Center of Hospital da Luz Torres de Lisboa carries on programmes of assessment and correction of cardiovascular risk, in a multidisciplinary and integrated way. To identify cardiovascular risk factors, diagnose atherosclerosis early-on, learn about vascular effects before symptoms are developed, design active correction programmes and do its follow-up – such is the role of the highly differentiated and experienced clinical teams in cardiovascular risk and thrombosis of this Centre, resorting to the more advanced technological means required for their intervention.
